PRIORITY OF ACCESS
Jamberoo Community preschool, caters for children 3 to 6 years of age. We are licensed for 30 children per day.
We are funded through the state governments Start Strong funding. Due to these funding guidelines priority is given to children who turn 4 before the 31st July of the that particular year and children from families of Aboriginal or Torres Straight Island backgrounds as well as families who hold a low income health care card.
All children are more than welcome and encouraged to go on our waitlist as early as possible to give the best possible chance of enrolment.
HEALTHY FOOD
Please pack your child a healthy morning tea and lunch – we prefer paper or reusable containers to wrap food (for self help and recycling purposes) as well as easy to open lunch boxes and water bottles.
We suggest packing extra food than your child would regularly eat at home as eating times are a social experience and during the day at preschool children are often more active; so they tend to eat more.
We do not have a formal afternoon tea but suggest an extra piece of fruit or healthy snack if your child stays after 3.00 pm.
We ask that you don’t give children sweet biscuits, chips, lollies, and highly processed food etc. as part of their snacks/lunches. Please support our guidelines and choose healthy snack options for your child.
We support the inclusion of children with specific allergies. Families will be informed of food substances which cannot be brought to pre-school. We have a NUT FREE policy at preschool to support these children. More information will be provided to you with your child’s enrollment form. If you are baking at home, please support us with this by putting a note in your child’s lunch box which tells us the ingredients of their food.
SUN SAFETY
Our program implements a Sun Care Policy. Children are indoors during the hottest parts of the day and each child will be required to wear a hat which covers head, neck and ears. We recommend bucket or wide brimmed style hat as they provide the best sun protection.
We also ask that your child wears clothing with sleeves that covers their shoulders.
Please apply sunscreen to your child’s skin on arrival at pre-school – supplies are available in the foyer, and mark that you have done this on the sign in/out book. We will reapply as necessary to protect your child’s skin.
PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING TO PRESCHOOL EVERYDAY
A big bag that your child can open and close by themselves that contains:
- A lunch box sensitive of our healthy eating policy
- A wide brimmed hat
- A spare change of clothes (with covered shoulders)
- A water bottle
